The Yardy Boys
Many people often complain about having to walk and drive in snow and how it makes them miss the warm, sunny days of summer. Snow removal in Ontario is never at the top of anyone’s list of favorite things to do, but being prepared is the key to keeping it manageable. The icy snow brings with it a number of chores that need to be done.
After you are done enjoying the view, having a snowball fight or two, and building your very own snowman, Yardy Boys will take care of the manual labor involved in snow removal. We understand how important it is to remove all snow from your driveway and any walkways. Listed below are some important reasons why the snow should be removed from the lawn as soon as possible.
Makes Life Easier for Everyone
Clearing the pathway or driveway of snow and ice makes life easier for all those living in the house, especially when they have to leave for school or work early in the morning. It feels nice to be able to wear all types of shoes without having to worry about them getting wet in the snow. Not only is it more convenient and efficient to hire a commercial service, but it also saves you time — time that can be better used on more important tasks.
Preventing Accidents
One of the most important reasons for removing snow is to prevent any injuries and keep all individuals safe from harm. Since people of all ages are living in a home, they should be able to venture out without risking their safety whenever they please. Professional snow removal companies not only provide a better-quality service, but they are also quite skilled at preventing damage to your home, vehicles, parking lot, and customer property.
Better Quality
Many homeowners and business owners have faced the consequences of improper snow removal. From entryways, sidewalks, and lanes of traffic blocked by snowdrifts to damaged equipment, the cost of improper snow removal can be significant — both financially and in terms of safety risks. Also, if your business has a parking lot, you could spend countless hours shoveling it out to allow customers to park in front of your store. However, professional snow removal companies are armed with the equipment and expertise necessary to tackle anything a winter storm can bring.
Avoid Lawsuits
One reason which encourages everyone to have the snow removed from their walkways is the potential threat of lawsuits. Some communities have rules in place which hold homeowners accountable for the snow on their driveways and sidewalks. If someone were to slip outside your house, they can slap you with a legal notice. By outsourcing your snow removal to a company that is properly equipped to handle the volume of snow and size of your lot, you can significantly reduce the risk of anyone getting injured.
Hire professionals
Yardy Boys offer professional snow removal in the Greater Toronto Area, servicing areas such as Brampton, Mississauga, Toronto, and Vaughan. The Yardy Boys
As October starts, it is time to start planning for fall aeration. Homeowners should aerate their grass at least once a year, depending on their region. Why? Because aerating your grass is one of the most beneficial things you can do! Using specifically developed equipment, core aeration removes small cores of soil and thatch (the layer of live and decomposing organic material between the soil surface and green vegetation) from your lawn.
A series of hollow coring tines are rolled over the grass, puncturing its surface and removing small plugs of dirt and thatch in a systematic manner. The removal of these plugs allows significantly more air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots of grass plants. As a result, the usage of fertilizer and water becomes more efficient. This adds to a healthier, deeper root system, allowing grass plants to better withstand pest and disease stress. Following aeration, plugs should be kept on the grass because they contain soil microorganisms that help break down thatch. When left on the lawn surface, these plugs vanish in a short amount of time. You might be asking yourself, "Why should I aerate my lawn?" Yardy Boys has you covered with all the necessary information!
HEALTHY GRASS IS PROMOTED BY AERATION
Aerating your grass permits essential nutrients, water, sunlight, and oxygen to penetrate and reach your lawn's root system. This will encourage a strong and deep root system, resulting in a lush green lawn that is better able to fend off unwelcome weeds and grasses.
SOIL COMPACTION IS RELIEVED BY AERATION.
This is especially important if your lawn gets a lot of traffic. Due to the weight and strain of increased foot activity throughout the summer months (from dogs, family, and friends), your grass may get compacted. Pulling out the little soil cores relieves the increased stress and tension on your lawn. If you don't release the compacted soil, new growth won't be possible, and your grass will start to dry up. If your soil is compacted, your grass will experience "runoff," which means that water won't be able to permeate through the deep soil layer when it rains or when you water your lawn.
AERATION REDUCES THE AMOUNT OF THATCH
Between the grass and the soil surface, thatch is a covering of organic dead and living shoots, stems, and roots. While a small amount of thatch is beneficial, anything above 12 inches must be removed since it reduces the quantity of sunlight, water, and nutrients that reach the soil.
NEW GROWTH IS PROMOTED BY AERATION.
Before fertilizing and seeding, it is advised that homeowners aerate their lawn. This is because it allows the granules and seeds to take hold and penetrate the soil more easily. Aeration also provides more room for your lawn's roots to move and thrive.
